Missing pictures

What does it mean when I get a small blue square with a question mark inside in place of a pictures.. Have been going to archives and find this often.
 
If you posted the pictures thru photobucket and you deleted the files or moved them pics, I believe the "?" is just saying that the pics are no longer associated with the URL that you had put into your thread.

I just looked at Carl's pics of his Y boards. Switched to this thread and then returned to Carl's reply......no pictures. Had to relog in and the pics were there.
For some reason I keep getting logged out and maybe that is when I can't see the pics.

When "logged out", seeing photos depends on where the pictures are "stored", if the pictures are stored to duckboats.net you will get the box, if the pictures are stored elsewhere the pic will show up.


If you are "logged in" you will see all pictures, unless as has been said, they have been moved.
 
Being this old of a site is a two edge sword. so much information but hosting sites have changed. Looking back at my posts I see lots of those darn lost pictures. I used to use personal server space that Cox used to give subscribers back in the early 2000s. That's long gone. I then used image shack as a free host site, they went commercial after a few years. If Photo-bucket changes their policies or goes under, I think more than half the pictures on the site will be lost. I now try and up load all the pictures I'm posting on the site, onto to this site, just to minimize any future loss.
