Mixing Epoxy

Hi all, New member and first time poster, and I NEED HELP!!!. I've been building a duck boat and have done some fiberglas work before. Yesterday I received my West Epoxy. I already have the frame and plywood hull glued up. I wanted to use the Epoxy to fillet the seems. I can see perfectly at 100yards, but if it is in arms reach I can't see. Anyways, I read the directions for the epoxy and just saw the part for mixing by volume - five parts resin, one part harder. However, I have the pumps and should have used equal pumps of each. I mixed only one pump of harder per five pumps of resin. Dummmmy me and I was wondering why it would not set up. Will this mixture eventually set. Or do I have to scrape it all out and start over.

I would scrape it all out and redo it Dave. It wont ever link up like it should. It may eventually get firmer but it will never truly cure.

Welcome aboard.

Eric, Thanks I called the WEST company and they said the same thing. I just fisinhed scraping it out and washing it out with a solvent. Tonight I'll try it again with the correct mixture. This is my first boat and did it with out plans, just a duck boat picture from a poat of Jorjenzak's Modified Kara project. I further modified it by squaring off the stren and adding a transom for a small motor.

Dave, Nice looking boat.Looks like there will be lots of room.

You really should look into better reading glasses though, you are way off on your plywood cuts on the bottom . ;^)

Looking good,
Eric
