More Corn = less or more ducks?

From the Wall Street Journal today:

U.S. farmers plan to plant 90.5 million acres of corn this year, the largest area since 1944. Corn prices fell on the news but ethanol demand could bolster them

This can't be good for waterfowl, etc right re nesting, potholes, etc.. or is it re food source (waste corn).

What say you experts? Thanks. A>

Yes, more corn will most likely equal less ducks. Actually more corn means nothing but less CRP means less ducks. Shouldn't be a big change yet this year. I believe the increase this year will be from less beans and wheat but in years to come a lot of CRP acres will go back into production.
The good news is there is no one party to blame, most in DC seem to be on the produce more ethanol bandwagon. The bad news is at best we can only produce about 20% of our fuel...or did I get the good and bad mixed around? Well whatever, the "renewable" energy forces are on a roll and they are not conservationists.

btw Any drop in corn prices today still leaves it at historically high levels.

No educated, envirnomentally minded person would ever tell you with any honesty that more corn is a good thing. Anyone thinking (or maybe just saying) that more corn is good has an agenda (and they are not thinking about feeding ducks either)
