More Pond Box Pictures...

Craig, I have the same Higbee.... I have a snap on canvas cockpit cover, but am considering a modification to open the cockpit larger to make it easier to load decoys, as I typically use it as a stool sled when I need to transport another hunter in my BBSB... and also to allow it to trim better when I want to paddle it with a kayak paddle for decoy moves or bird pick up.... have you seen any Higbee modified similarly?

Dave,

I have not, but I don't see much downside to enlarging the cockpit, other than being careful not to flood it. They float pretty high though.

Craig i know the guy who owns the molds for that box . He also has the molds for the sneakbox . Both boats were designed by Dave Martin way back when and are still a good boat . I hear ya about the pondbox not being meant to float a gunner . I could never see my decoys for my feet . The box has to much slope in the front or the weight needs to be farther back or something . Its still a good boat for what it was designed for . This is what i hunt out of and love it . I designed this to fit me

and im small so take that in to consideration . Molded fiberglass / 40 lbs and stable

Hello guys, been a bit quiet of late as been busy busy with work. I just wanted to say I have no knowledge of this topic before as not really something we use over here in the uk, but thanks I am learning a lot. Very interesting topic.

Thanks again for educating this chap.

Ed,
Any idea who built the top pondbox pictured in post #14? And, are there plans for this boat?

Mike

I'm afraid not. This was a photo I'd downloaded years ago.
