Motor Troubles???

I am having trouble with my 40 HP evenrude, When it is cold it starts and runs great. After it is warmed up and I start it back up, It runs ok, and then Dies, like it is not getting fuel. It will ideal ok and as soon as I give it gas it starts to lunge, Like it revs and then dies revs and dies.

Does anyone have any words of wisdom for me, (besides getting a new motor!)

We have put a new fuel line,
New water pump.
and was just tuned up.

Thanks Shane Snyder

Shane check the integrity of the fuel lines. I had a merc motor that did the same thing it turned out that it was sucking air thru a pin hole in the fuel line. Changed out the fuel line and it never did it again. Just a thought

We did out a new fuel line on, But I would like to try another one!
It agree it is the fuel system.

We have abuilt in tank, And could be a problem with the pickup inside the tank.

Thanks for the help. I will check that first.

Could be water in the fuel if you can hook a tank with fresh gas in it and give it a try it will tell you if it is the fuel.

Run new fuel from a clean container. This will eliminate bad fuel, bad hose, and any tank venting problems. If it still acts up, I would start looking at carb issues to make sure the floats aren't messing up. After that, I would look at an ignition coil that could be breaking down once it warms up.

When my Yamaha did that, it was the pick-up in the fuel tank.

Does your priming ball go soft? In my case, I could keep the motor running if I kept pumping the ball, but it would die within about 10 seconds if I quit.

I think I should step up and make it right for you. I obviously sold you a lemon. I'll give you my newly rebuilt 35 hp johnson 1982, and I'll take that old junk off your hands.
How ya been Shane?

Yea, And you never said anything about the hole in the bottom of the boat!!
Things are going well. had a good duck season, Slow Goose season.
How about you?
