Got this Email and Photos from Michael Bankes today. I do Enjoy watching a Craftsman work His skill set. Cant wait to get My new Intruder. I have not been this amped up in a while.
Hi Rob, Thank-You very much for your patience. I wanted to let you know I have started you boat now. Here are some pictures of me spraying the gelcoat. We build the boats in female molds, so everything is done in reverse. The first step is to spray apply the colors. The straw color and black are sprayed first, and then the main olive drab color goes over top of them. The next step is to lay the fiberglass in the molds, after the gelcoat has dried. I will send you more pictures next week, have a good weekend, Michael

Congrats on the purchase. They look like really nice boats. I missed the opportunity to purchase one used last year and have somewhat regretted it.

That's way cool! I loved getting construction pictures of MY boat when John Kuhn welded up my sneakbox. I hope that the pictures of your intruder keep coming.

Got an update this Morning.
Here we have all the fiberglass work on the boat done now, and the two pieces of the hull and clamped together. Once it has dried ( overnight ) we will pour the foam into it int he holes in the top of the mold. That's next, tomorrow.
Thanks
Michael

Its just to shoot the anchor out. Then I dont have to drop it overboard. j/k

Honest officer, thats all I ever use it for, dropping the anchor.

The bucket of nails? Oh those, I am uhh, I am just transporting them to the shore blind in anticipation of doing some rebuilding.

Here is a Photo of the Interior Liner of the Bankes Intruder. You can see the holes where the expanding foam was poured in between the Hull and the liner. Makes the Boat Solid and floats level when full of water. Water never touches the foam. Next the Deck fits onto the boat. Makes the Inside of the boat Finished just like the Outside. It is this extra step that sets the Bankes Boat apart from many others.

My part and got my Yamaha 9.9 painted and put back together.

I was just going to ask yesterday what you were planning on running on it. You keeping your MOMarsh?

By the way, your shop is not only WAY TOO CLEAN, but WAY TOO EMPTY...I wouldn't know what to do in a place like that...I might even be afraid to make a mess...nah, I'd get over that.

Best
Chuck

I sold My Momarsh Chuck. Going to use this Intruder like I did the Momarsh just a little more seaworthy.

No wonder the shop looks so empty, I remember you selling your big boat, but missed that you were parting with the MoMarsh.

Rob,

This is no reflection on you or your part but I hate to see this in a boat. It is obvious that the wiring will get excess glue smeared on it when assembled. This will make it difficult if not impossible to string new wires sometime in the future. Too bad that a pvc conduit is not laid in place after which the wires could be freely pulled thru the conduit.

"I might even be afraid to make a mess..."

Come on Chuck, how much of a mess can some scraps of fabric and some little balls of thread make???? Hehehehe, Trip
