My Bankes Intruder Sneakboat Blind Build

My favorite off season Project. Rigging out a Duck Boat. I like My camo
left on the boat full time so I dont have to set any thing up when I get to my
Hunting location.

First thing I did to my Bankes Intruder Sneakboat is add Oar lock sockets.
I have found over the years that it is easier to get around in bad mud with
a pair oars than on foot.

I remove the grass rails and cleat off the deck. Next I cover the boat
with Olive Drab Hand Rail netting. I use hand rail netting because it is
heavy duty. It will hold camo nets, grass and brush If You need to use
that type of natural cover. Ring the net with 3/8 inch rope around the top
of the combing. I then cut out around the cockpit. Melt the ends of the
Net and attach to the combing deck with Brass screws and Nylon clamps. I
pull the net tight and reattach grass rails.

Next I ring the bottom of the net with 3/8 inch rope. I like the net to
hang down almost to the water line. I cut off all the net below the rope and melt
the cut ends of the Net. Now its time to add Camo nets. I use Camo Systems Max 4 nets.
I double them. I use cable ties to attach to the hand rail net. Start on the top middle
and work your way down. The camo net will draw up as you pinch and tie. I dont want the
camo to lift the bottom of my Net off the water line.

This week I will try and finish up with my Hood and cockpit cover and cut off all those
cable tie ends. I like to hunt setting up. That way I can see what flying around and working
the decoys.

I bend two pieces of aluminum flat bar in to hood frames. I attach these to the combing
of the boat. Cover with net and camo.
I make the cockpit cover with the same net and camo net.
Gun rack, Jerk String rig, Seat, Battery box, Gas tank and Lowrance mount still to come.
This is My kind of off season Summer Project.

Looking good Rob. The more pictures I see of this boat the more I like it. Could you please post a supplier for the netting. In my area all I can find is fish net from a home hobby store and it not very durable. What size is the rope and the net opening?

I need to start working on the fatboy. Yes....both of them! Unlike you I usually find myself doing this stuff the week before the season starts cursing myself for waiting so long...;-)

Rob, that is looking just great. I really like your ideas. Every time I see a picture of your shop it reminds me of what some of those Nascar garages look like-----totally immaculate. Keep it up. I am enjoying those updated pictures. POOR DUCKS

Rob,
Looking good you'll have that all decked out and ready to go for the season. I am like most I wait till the last minute to get everything ready. This season I plan to get an early start. So maybe 2 weeks before the deason opens. What is your plan for the front where you have those aluminum hoops? You gonna do canvas like a bimini? I did something like that on mine last yearcame out really well. Good luck with it.

Using the frame to hold more Net and Camo Netting. Same with the Outboard cover. Here in Southern Oklahoma we have more hunting days You would like an open breeze than days we need protection.

This is my Jerky string Handle. The handle is under the deck and the nets inside where I sit. It gives me 14 inches of pull and Nothing can see You move. I run the 3/8 inch line from the handle up through 1/2 pvc and then out the back of the combing. I just make an over hand knot in the line. That knot just sits outside the combing. I just set up my jerk decoy and clip the line to my over hand knot. When I need to chase down a cripple in the boat I just unhook the clip. Now I have a jerk rig I can operate without spooking the ducks. In 32 Duck seasons I have killed more ducks by Jerk String than by Call.

Hey Rob -

Very nice set up. I am particularily interested in your jerk string set up. Is it possible for you to provide a few more pic's of the set up? Do you attach a float or something to the line you unclip when retrieving downed ducks.

Very cool idea.

Tonight I added the gun rack and the Ram mount for my Lowrance. Fixed the Ram mount where the Lowrance stores under the side combing when not in use.

Here is a photo of where the pvc comes out the back of the Combing. I dont put a float on my jerk decoy line but that is a good idea. I hunt brush piles and laydowns in the river channel. Always something to throw the line over. I just got tired of running lines over the top of everything and tring to make it work. This set up has all the moving parts at arm length and hidden from view. I also line the 14 inch pull. Thats enough to make a decoy dance around.

Great job Rob cant wait to see her in action... with a little twitch here and a twitch there....here ducky ducky!!!

shermie...

Thanks for the extra jerk string pic. I can't believe your wife let's you do duck boat work in the living room. Mine would kill me.

You call that a garage? It is cleaner than my basement and it is finished.

Rob-

Very nice work! I love to see some work with a clean, well thought-out design. No doubt from some experience. The shop is awesome. Some day I hope to be there. Trying to get the wife back to work and the 3 kids bigger. Although, the wife seems to be on a 3 year plan to build a shop that I can actually work in!! Yeah.

Looking at your Intruder makes me even more dissapointed that I missed my opportunity on one last year.

Looking forward to more pics of the progress.
