well a few months back i was on here griping about sanding and scraping my old aluminum boat in hopes to make it into a duck boat with the floor primed and tough coat put on it i am now ready to start the out side with priming going to pick up a trailer for it tonight and should begin building a blind by the end of may. all the pieces are comming together now i just need to find the right motor. if anyone has a motor that runs or just needs some tlc let me know i have looked at a few but just couyldnt agree on a price or they needed to be rebuilt completely

here it is this is a picture of the floor with two coats of primer before applying the tough coat you can see a few spots i had to do some patch work on the seats. dont mind the paint on the transom my 3 year old wanted to help.

It's coming along got a trailer for it now I'm on the search for a motor. Hoping with the yard sale season starting I'll find one tucked away in a garage.

got the entire boat primed last night. went smooth and looks good im so glad to be at this stage after all the hard work i did prepping for paint.still looking for an outboard. and im looking foward to fabricating a blind i love tinker with things rather then just ordering a blind to put on the boat. i have a few diffrent idead butim definetley going to keep in a low profile for hunting out in the marsh.also looking foward to getting the boat out of my garage and getting to my next project a 16ft fiberglass canoe that will be my first time working with fiberglass and im excited to learn a new skill.

Chris,

I'm striping and refinishing my aluminum boat also. Lots of work but it's worth it. What did you decide to use for primer and paint? I choose Lou's primer and FME paint. We'll see how it works this month.

that was my first choice but do to funding i had to go with a cheaper option i got the self etching primer for rustoleum. im putting the second coat on today and will post some pictures. i used tough coat on the floor and what a head ache that was trying to work a roler and a brush with the ribs and seat post and shape of the hull i had a lot of clumping, i used the olive they had but it came out to light of a color so i ended up spraying over with a darker green. everything is looking good i will let everyone know how it holds up. im hoping i dont kick my self in the a$$ for trying to save some cash.

Hence the old adage ,you get what you pay for:) Usually using quality is cheaper in the long run but it looks like you did a great job on prep so you might get lucky.
