My pee pee is just a dribble

I have a 1978 Johnson 25hp it has been running fine but the pee hole has become a dribble instead of the stream it use to be. The intake doesn't seem to be plugged, the screen is clean.

So what do I need to do,

Take it to the shop or is it some thing I can do?

Thanks Craig

Craig,

If your pee hole is clean(if folks didn't know we were talking outboards that just might sound wrong!) sounds like you might want to check your water pump. If you are somewhat mechanically inclined it's not too bad of a job to repair.

Be very careful of your cooling water on that motor. They dont like to run hot. If you dont feel OK getting into the system get it to the shop before running it more. Could be simple, but an over heat will not be good for it.

Craig,
Pull the pee hose off the fitting inside the housing and blow air backwards through the fitting. The fitting is probably just plugged. If no water comes out of the hose do not run untill you get a water pump service. Not a big deal, actually water pump service should be done once a year.

I never leave the dock without a little piece of wire to ream out my pee hole when it gets plugged. Just ram it up in there and dislodge whatever gradeux is blocking it. Painful, but effective.

One time I had a caterpiller or maggot crawl in and make a cocoon in one of my motors. I use a straigtened fish hook to wreck his plan.
