Yesterday it finally happened for Jeffrey. He's been going hunting since he was 3 yrs old. Everything seemed against us except for the wind. It was a miserable 85 and in an enclosed stand it felt like 100. We've been scouting and watching the deer cam for a while and I knew the week of no moon was when to get it. He shot it with a .270 and she dropped dead in her tracks. (No helpfrom me except holding the gun while he got in position, and a little bit of coaching.) I guess you've probably figured out I am proud of his accomplishment. jeffrey'sfirstdeer2.jpg

Proud? No doubt about it.Jeffs smile says it all.Hard work payed off.Congradulations to the both of you.

Leslie,
Way to go. Too Cool. There's nothing like huntin' with your kids. Keep it up partner,
Lou

Good job, sounds like a well placed shot. I hope there are many more to follow over the years. You might consider saving two of the feet, cut a bit above the "ankle" to mount to a board. Can make for a nice looking gun rack and a memorial of your first deer.

Dave, speaking of mounts, saw a camo pickup in Belton a few years ago that had the entire rearend of a white -tail mounted on the tailgate and two rear legs hanging free from behind the bumper. The kicker was he had a brake light mounted right where ya thought.Wish I had a picture.Too funny.

Jeffrey is ten. He has been living it up today. He has read all the comments and thinks the deer foot gun rack would be cool. I should have thought about that before it went to the processors. We've got pictures though. Maybe we'll try that on his first buck. I am going to take him duckhunting for the first time this year. I am more excited about sharing the boat together than he is I think. Thanks for the replies guys, you all made his day.

Way to go Jeffrey. I bet we all remember our first deer so we know how happy you are now. Hope you never lose that feeling. Congratulations.

Way to good Jeffery. That's some good eatin you got there!

It was 90 degrees here in Illinois this weekend. I was in my stand both days but all I got to do was swat skeeters.

Way to go Jeffery!! LOL I remember my first deer...and I missed! It's great when things work out even though they don't start out on an even keel. Congrats!!!!

congrats on your first deer.

I remember what that was like for me I was 12 when I shot my first deer. I am 28 now, but I still get all excited from no matter if it has a rack or not antlers don't eat well on a plate but they sure do look cool on the wall.

congrats I hope you have some tender loin on the grill soon.
