I guess I'm in the market for another pair of Schollhorn pliers.

At possibly 143 years old, can we say, "They don't make them like they used to?" I think William Bernard had a great idea. I would be sick too, if it was mine. Lots of history there.

Condolences.

Not sure what that tool is used for (I assume for wiring the supports for your canvas decoys), but I understand how stressful it is to lose a tool that has been an old friend for years. I had an old die grinder go belly up a few years back, couldn't get parts to repair it, and I still grieve when I see it laying in the bottom drawer. It is useless, and I have found I like my foredom better, but I cannot bring myself to throw it away............

I've got one in the tool box at the house that looks just like that, found it in my parents garage.

Man, I thought you bent yoour sewing needle.

Actually I'm not as attached to my needles as one might think...now I do have a favorite pair of scissors, that I like almost as much as those pliers.

One too many drops? Or trying to muscle something?

Naw, as much as I do drop, I don't ever recall dropping these. I was trying to cut down a screw so it wouldn't pop out the top of a decoy's back

Very seldom.
Is it realtively valuable???
I will try to find it tonight and take a pic to send to you.

Yes, I use these on almost every canvas decoy I've made. The integral cutters are great, but the parrallel jaws are even more handy.

This is crazy. That's almost the same pliers I use when I make canvas decoys... when I can find it.
There looks to be plenty of nice old parallel jaw pliers on ebay.

I was afraid that Chuck had broken one of his carving knives. Actually my first thought was,,,,,,,,,,, well lets just say I wasn't concerned if he broke his tool or not.

I am glad that he treats his knives better than how he treats his pliers.

Tools are made to be used. If not, why would god have given them to us?

See if this one is similar

Picture is dark, and it looks like the metal is dark but not rusty, correct? Are the jaws and cutters in good condition? You looking to deal? I'll make you the same offer I made Carl (a seamstress can't have too many tools...)
