1998 GMC pick needs tires. Primary use to trailer D Boat highway hour plus trip each way. Original equipment calls for P265/75R 16. I can get a great deal on P245/75R 16. That's going down in size. Is that a bag thing?

Hi Charles yes going down that much will be a big deal. Your speedomotor is definitly going to be off. If it is a automatic i'm nopt sure but I think that you will probably shift at the wrong time also.
 
You will also be going much narrower, which is not the best for handling or traction on wet roads or muddy boat ramps.
