NDR - atlantic salmon and great scenery

nice Gary

and nice to see water, our trout streams are darn near as dry as the lawn

Good stuff. What's the population trends in salmon populations up there?

Sorry to see you lost a couple of fishing partners, but no better place to remember them than casting a fly in a wild river.

Great post! Looks like a great trip. I've caught a lot of salmon in Alaska over the years, but never fished for Atlantic Salmon before. Looks like a blast!

Thanks for the very kind words, guys. I pretty much live for atlantic salmon fishing and all that it entails, which is way more than just the fish.
Gary

Great photos and story Gary. Good for you for doing the Atlantic Salmon fishing, that is a great pursuit and I'm sure it is rewarding.

Good morning Silverback ~

As always, a fine tale well-told - and well illuminated with your exceptional photos.

Peter's progress as a Salmon Fisherman is grand to see. We have a nice photo in the hallway of a much small Peter Woods with a side-by-side and a bunch of Woodies from Home Pond here at PBF. And, somewhere, I have a shot of him with his first Goose - which we put in front of him right down the road in my farmer's corn field.

And, yes, my own tresses were once much longer than the Young Mister Woods - and my son Ben's - another Manhattan Dweller - still are....

All the best,

SJS

Your salmon fishing trip sure brought me back to all the times I fished the salmon at the Russian/Kenai River before it got so popular. Sure enjoyed looking at all those beautiful flies you tied. That, too, seemed to make fly fishing that much better. Thanks, Gary.
Al

Thanks again, gents! Atlantic salmon populations are at worrisome levels...so many unanswered questions as to why. Many ideas, little "proof". And Al, color me green regarding your Russian fishing!
Very best,
Gary
