Thought you guys might enjoy these bobcat pics I took yesterday while shed hunting. He (she?, I'm not very educated on cats), stayed within 25-35 yards of me for about 15 minutes. Eerie but really cool!

Great pics!! That would be really cool to see. Very odd for a cat to hang around like that...you must've smelled of bacon or something.

I love it when Cats do that........I've never had one do it as openly as that on did to you but I've had them follow me........neat that you had a camera with you.....

That's a very pretty cat. Neat indeed that he/she followed you around.

I had a bobcat stalk me while I sat in the turkey blind one day with my back up against a big tree and I'd called a couple times real quietly. Kept hearing something walking behind me, though not consistent. I got curious since it was coming closer so I turned around and not three feet from me was a bobcat in mid stalk. He froze when I turned to look at him. We locked eyes and looked at each other for a good long look. I thought it was really neat. He was thoroughly disgusted with me. You could tell that when he came out of stalk mode, looked at me as only cats can do and then turned around and sauntered off, turning to look at me one time over his shoulder before disappearing back into the woods as quietly as he came in. I wished that I had had a camera out at the time.

Very Cool Pics! Bobcats are pretty curious at times, I guess he/she (no way to tell without getting way to personal) was just checking you out. Maybe hoping you would scare up a rabbit.

I love that angle of attack on that first shot, Bill. What a beautiful animal. Thanks for posting this.

Bill~

Good for you! I've only seen Bobcats a few times - while floating a creek for ducks - thanks to the silent approach. Trail cameras and tracks tell me they are here on the farm but I have yet to see one in the flesh.

All the best,

SJS

Bobcats are very common in our area of western NY, which is still amazing to me. Saw my first one climb a tree in front of me while deer hunting in 1965 in NW Pa. Years later came upon one killing a wild turkey as we treked into a mountain trout stream. Now that was one helluva fight to hear and see!

Now I not only catch glimpses of them but find their tracks in the woods, by streams, the river and even in our yard. It's good that I have lived to see the return of the Bald Eagle, Osprey and now the Bobcat... Whats next?

Never seen a bobcat in the wild. I did see the tail end of a lynx once as it scooted off a logging road and into the woods. That was quite a day--saw bear, moose, deer, coyote and lynx, all in one day.

Cool pix!

Great pictures! Every bobcat I have ever seen has been hightailing it out of the area. I have seen a couple of lynx linger and stare so the behavior doesn't really surprise me.
