NDR: Chimney Cap/Damper Installation???

Recently had our fireplace and chimney inspected. Basically, other than some grout work around the top of the chimney its clean & in great shape. Except we dont have a damper or cap. I got a quote from the chimney guy of over $500.00 to do the little bit of grout work and install a damper/cap combo. Looking online, theses things are about $250.00.
My question:
It looks pretty simple to install the cap on top with some chimmey grade sealant, run the chain down the chimney and put on the hook for the chain.
Am I missing something?
Shouldn't I be able to do this myself vs. pay the chimney guy $250 for about 30 minutes worth of work????

My is pretty easy to install. My has 4 screws that put tension in the teracotta (?) lining. Before you use any sealant, build a small fire and try it. If no problems, gradually increase the size of the fire. With my fire place, it to restrictive with a top on and I get smoke in the house. Pull the cap off and no problems. You don't need it on there for when your burning. It really is for the rest of the year when your not burning to keep critters out. However it is a lot nicer with a damper. Puts a lot more heat in the house and closed when not burning will help keep heat in the house. Good luck.
