97 degrees in the shade , The "hardcore" infintry guys wussed out and left Satuday. Sunday was more fun with the shouting of taunts from the rebs in the fort trying to get us to fire on them ( like we need an excuse to shoot :P ) . YES , we were asked to be the "bad guys" ( at least we got to win one this time :) ) hope you enjoy the pics

Looks like fun!
Did you get a chance ot fish while you were there?

Carl , no time for fishing , was having to much fun firing.

Steve,
you should see one of the big reenactments when the infintry charges the cannon , we fire , and 20 or 30 guys in a cone shape " take the hit " and fall backwards !! As Tony the tiger would say " IIIiiitssss GGGGrreaAAAttttt !!!"
honestly ,At that range , with live fire , we could just about choose what person to hit !

My group host a School of the Battery for other crews , we have one comming up and there should be about 7 different types of artillary there. It is about how to properly and SAFELY fire the guns. Maybe i will try and talk them into a few live fires and see if we can back up what we teach :) !

I have a pic somewhere of a live fire target, gimmie a min and let me find it.

A fewyears ago there was a re-enactment of Morgan's Raid across southern Ohio. They followed the trail as close as possible. It started near Cincy and headed east towards Marietta culiminating in the only civil war battle in Ohio. The battle of Buffington Island. We went down to see one of the skirmishes they had along the way. I don't remember the numbers invovled but they was calvary, infantry and 12-15 cannons used.

At least some of Morgan's raiders rode all the way on horseback. In places where it was known and permission was obtained they used original trails and campsites.

The event we went to was where my mother-inlaw grew up. It was nice to hear all the anecdotal stories that people knew from experiences family members had.
