find a book called Winterdance by Gary Paulson. It is the funniest book I have ever read.
It his about his decision to run the Iditarod having never done any dog sledding before.

I saw there hasn't been any real snow. That's no fun at all.

Yes ,the first 200 miles looked pretty crazy,12 sleds scratched . I believe the run from Koyuk to Nome is snow free as well. Hard on dogs and equipment.
