NDR - King of the Woods

At least in my little part of the world! He has been around for at least three years and we have watched him grow each season. This is the first time in two years that I was able to capture him on the trail cam and with my new camera in daylight

Disclaimer up front - he lives in a place were he cannot be hunted

Best count I have is eleven points and for comparison the wood feeder box is 18" high.

Thanks for sharing. Seeing a beautiful deer like that during daytime is always a treat. Hope you get a few dropped souveniers besides the digested corn.

Nice buck, thanks for sharing the pics. We have some big city bucks living in a park a couple blocks away. A few years ago on the opening weekend of firearms season one was sleeping in a neighbors yard.

I thought some may enjoy the pictures, thanks for the comments.

I tried shed hunting last year with no luck because my "backyard" consists of steep ravines and at that time my newly acquired asthma was not in control. Hopefully this year will be different (or maybe i can convince Ed to look also).

Geo - there is a farm nearby and and apple orchard he frequents in his travels. I know there is no hunting on the farm as its owned by the family of a very large farming corporation that does not allow hunting on any of its properties. I don't believe the orchard allows hunting either so he is fairly safe from honorable hunters.

Mark,
I'll just bet that beauty runs the timber line on the property I told you about this morning?...;-) Just may be a deer stand out there next year!

That is a beaut, but I've come to feel that a deer like that looks better vacuum sealed in the freezer and on the wall than in pictures or real life :).

Nice 4.5 or 5.5 year mature buck maybe older. You could build a wire mesh 90 degree to try and catch them when they shed. Nice buck to have around for your local gene pool.

Soak them to retain there sound and keep the mice off , use them to rattle next season. Agree with the stand in the area and Tod's meat in the freezer.

That's a Good buck, now I gotta go down in the freezer and get out some Venison loin. Those photo's made me hungry... Hope he dies of old age and not hit by a car to lay in a ditch.

Mark, these shots are fantastic. Thanks so much for sharing what you found in your backyard. This makes you a lucky man.

Mark, What a stud he is. Bummer that deer like that, and the ones I'll post below, can not be hunted.

These are from my backyard!

Wow Ryan! To think how empty their existence is that they will never be in my freezer and wall. Poor things.

Tod,

These guys are fortunate that I am a model citizen and do not break the local law (can't discharge a bow or firearm in city limits). I'll post a pic tonight of a rub that monster buck put on a tree. He shredded the thing and I have it on video. Cool stuff to see.

Real shame on the no bow shooting for the kids' sake. Bummer not to be able to do that at least. We are close enough to neighbors that we can't shoot out doors with firearms, but can shoot bow and that is nice.

Vid would be neat if you have it handy.

BIG Rabbits are what urban and even rural deer have become. They KNOW where it's safe to live, like the Super Canada geese we have from the Sept. seasons. There are no dumb animals, just dumb people. Forget the wall and trophies that's Prime Venison...

Antler restrictions in some places have bred a new type of poacher called "Thrill Killers". They shoot nice bucks with a .22 and leave them lay cuz they cannot hunt where the deer live. Posted and No Hunting are the new signs of Deer Management.
