So I get a call from a friend that I haven't talked with in a few years and he wants to know if I could do him a favor and take some old guns off his hands that didn't sell at his moving sale. For Free. I said sure that I would take them and dispose of them for him. Turns out there was 2 shot guns, a .22 rifle and a bb gun. The shot guns are a 20 ga. Ithaca Flues double in fair shape and a 16 ga single shot that is fairly rusty on the surface, but mirror bright on the bore. I can't make out the maker on that one. The .22 is a Winchester model 67 in poor shape on the outside, but appears to work and have a clean bore. Does anyone have any secret formulas for removing surface rust? I think the Flues will clean up with oil and maybe 0000 steel wool, but the others need some work.
Thanks,
Ron
