NDR: MP3 crisis. Help?

Got me a cheapie RCA music player (the ones the size of a fat lighter) at Canadian Tire and I unplugged it prematurely while loading fresh AC/DC from the mighty iMac, and now its broke. The instructions are in Mandarin or something. Help?

Mike

Mike, When you say it's broke, what do you mean? Will it still power on? Can you navigate through any of the menu's? Not sure of your make and model, but you can do a google search for it and see if others had the same issue. Or it could be a dud and your SOL....if it is, maybe you can get another at the tire joint.

After I posted I went to the RCA website and I found out I have a Lyra MP3 player and if you unplug it before you are supposed to it is REALLY BAD. It doesn't say exactly what will happen, or how to fix it, but what I did to it was REALLY BAD. It doesn't respond at all anymore to any buttons and we can't shut it off. I also realized that if anyone can fix these things I bet it is the kids at school, so I'll give that try.

Without knowing the exact model, it's hard to look up resources. But if I was you, I would go to THIS WEBSITE and play around. SSee what you can find by searching the FAQ's. But not disconnecting the device before unplugging it, usually it leaves the USB drivers installed on the computer. Might also help to reflash the firmware to the device. The latest firmware updates can usually be down loaded from the companies website also.

Thanks Andy, I'll check that out. Ryan, I ended up having to pull the battery to shut it off.

I gave it to a teenager at school who said she knew what to do so we'll see. The computer geek teacher at school said the way to fix it is to buy an iPod. Everyone is a comedian.

Buy an iPod, ha ha. Spend all that extra money, and it still doesn't work! They are definetly not without there problems also.

Hey Mike,

Did the kid figure it out for you, if not, I found a copy of my all purpose computer users guide, might help.
