ndr question for our residet Vet.

Maggie the foo-foo dog (less than 2year old, half yorkie, half Shitz-zoo(sp), shitzkie , yorshitz?) ,has started having problems walking. Back legs will tend to go the side and right when she should be moving forward.She starts moving then fades right, bumps into stuff,looks like she drunk. When sitting her head will wobble back and forth.
I checked , no ticks,no fleas , no bite bumps or marks.( I know she didn't feel well because she LET me check her over!)
She hasn't gotten into anything ( chemicals, paint , poisen, etc.)
Took her to the vet this morning , blood work was fine, no problems there, x-rays looked good .
The doc kept her a while ( to confer with other Vets) and my wife just picked her up. Doc said she MIGHT have a form of temporary Pallsy(sp) that small white dogs , although rare,are apt to get. Got her on 10 days of steroids to see if this clears the tremors and wobbles.

Ok,anybody heard of this before? Anything REEEAALY Reassuring I can tell the wife here? We don't have kids so this is her BABY!
Besides the fact the wife is worried about Maggie.........Maggie is really pissed about the fact that her body is not doing what she wants it to..................which I can relate to.

Seriously, can anybody shed some light on this for me ?

Can't say that I've seen anything like that before, or if I have, I missed it. My top list of rule/outs: slipped disc (regular x-ray can't tell you everything), hydrocephalic (water on the brain-but I think you would have seen signs before 2 yrs. of age), inflammation or infection on the spinal cord, liver shunt (again would have seen something sooner most likely). Ira or Alex are smarter and may have some other ideas, but that would be my quick top list off of my head.

Just to verify Im reading that right, Thats a ( NOT ) list , correct?

Its really kinda weird, she just started this , maybe friday , just thought she was goofy, then I started watching real close on Sat., and called Doc on Sunday.

Thanks, If any of your colleagues come up with anything , let me know what the consultation fees are so I can start begging for a "buddy price"!!!

than I could come up with. I would tend to agree with you, only because I can't come up with anything better.

Ill pull out the text this evening and have a look and see if there is anything I can add, neurology was never my forte (I'm lucky I can spell it). Alex
