NDR. Recommended bucket list: Quetico

Just got back in the states and I truly believe the Quetico provincial park in lower Ontario is one of most pristine, natural places within driving distances in North America. If God willing and your healthy enough to the challenges of portaging and canoeing it is a pure nature fix. The is about my 12th trip in the past 20 years and it just seems I can not get enough. Really ask yourself how many places have you been that when you get thirsty you can just dip a cup into the lake without the fear of mass intestinal catastrophe. Highly recommended as a destination to anybody.

Regards,
Kristan

I vacationed with our family on Lake Lac La Croix in the mid 60s through 70s . In 69 did a 10 day canoe trip starting in the BWCA with 8 days in Quetico. My son and I went two years ago for 5 days in BWCA and this past June we did another five day trip. Wanted to go to the painted rocks but the other two with us weren't up to going that far. Want to get back up to Lac La Croix soon. I agree there isn't any place like it.

Hey, with out pictures,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, it didn't happen. :>):>)

Seriously, I too enjoy my canoeing trips to the US/Canada border waters. Going into the "restricted to no motor areas" is a beautiful experience for both the eyes and the ears. If I did not have a job to report back to, I'd even throw away my watch and calendar, coming back out only when I ran out of supplies.

Glad you had a good time. Now, about those pictures????????????????

Kristan, I will echo Dave's request. Once upon lifetime I used to enjoy going to Ely, MN and then taking on portages, sipping water wherever you wanted and catching walleyes that would make a taxidermist thrilled to see.

Living those 8 years in Alaska, I never got sick drinking the water that was available and never once did I carry a canteen. What you did is definitely memorable. Sure glad you could do it. Pictures?
Al
