Need help from decoy carvers

I bought this sanding thing at the Wards in OC 5 years ago. I love it...but I have just about worn it out. I don't remember who I bought it from and want to get another one. Does anyone recognize it? Any help is appreciated.

Ron,

I can't help you with a name or source but I have a question for you. I imagine you have already considered this but is just the paper/cloth replaceable?

I replace the paper all the time. The pipe in the middle that holds the paper is wearing out and so is the rubber cushion. I can probably fix it some but would like to know where to get a new one since I have about 25 decoys on order.

Give Willy at The Duck Blind a call. They have them in 2 sizes as well as all the sandpaper you will need.

I used to use them alot. One way to fix it is to buy some felt that has a sticky backing. You can find these in the hardware sections of wal-mart,k-mart,etc. Cut it to size and use it to replace the torn up rubber portion of yours. If it does not want to stay stuck, then I would super glue it on. It will last for years by doing this. Those little felt pads are around the sections where you find furniture/floor protectors in the store. The center tube is supose to be oval shaped. It may not be as worn as you think. Hope this helps.

pull off the neoprene and take some fine 200+ sandpaper and clean off all the glue. Take some contact cement and a piece of 3mm neoprene from an old pair of leaky waders or one of those neoprene mouse pads and cut to size. Glue and you're back in business.

there are quite a few carving suppliers who also have the black foam cushion for the mandrel--i replace mine quite frequently---Willy HAS the sanders-likely, he has the foam also--comes in sheets/rolls-backed on one side with adhesive-if not backed, just spray one side with spray adhesive, or paint on contact cement.
If you are coming to ocean city next weekend, i am sure there will be a dealer who sells them!

Thanks for all the info everyone. George, I wish I was going to OC again. It is not in the cards ...or should I say bank account...this year.
