Need help with a blind for myMV 1448

Hey guys, my first post here on the site is going to be about asking some advice on getting or making a blind for my MV14 Jon. I have been doing some research and I like the Avery Quick Set but it's a bit pricey. I not the most mechanical person but would be willing to give a try at building a scissor style if some had plans. Well, thanks for the advice and I'm really looking for to my boat coming in sometime in the next few.

i like to make things so i made a scissor blind from tubing from a shelter logic tent. i bent them with a hammer and attached them with simple L brackets. i didnt really have plans i just layed out the peices on the boat. than i got some burlap bags from work and sewed together a blind for her. i dont hav any real good pics but this can give you an idea. it worked extremly well and faked a lot of birds. i just grassed it with marsh grass a few times through the season.

Not to get off track but what brand/model is that boat of yours. From looking at the transom fasteners that's some heavy duty construction!
 
Yep, search some of my old posts, but here it is in a nutshell:
IMO, commercial blinds are great but way, way overpriced. You can make something yourself that works great cost less than half.

Here is my blind design with a couple pics of my boat. I have used cerex in the past, but now use military netting. Whole setup cost less than $200, more like $150. Get the netting from Barre Army/Navy. Rest of supplies from Home Depot or Lowes.

Ed it is just an old 14 ft deep v. i have no idea who made it, it is from the 60's. it is also my uncles, he let me paint it and turn it into a duck boat. it isnt made for that motor and transom flexes quite a bit, but it got the job done. i think its only rated for an 8 too

The boat is a 1970 Starcraft - My dad picked it up a number of years ago and was mostly a crabbing boat but this year we (chris and I) convinced him to let us make it into a duckboat. Works great with chris's Copperhead! Normally have a mariner 4h on it, it pushes the boat along but it takes awhile... i believe its rated for a 8 or 9.9 - 15 would work on it too
 
I have the Cabela's Northern Flight blind on my 16' Lowe Roughneck. I bought the frame with the netting and attached Fastgrass that I removed from another blind. I did this after making several blinds myself using everything from PVC pipe, conduit and even wood. The Cabelas blind is solid, sets up in a minute and is easily removed for fishing season. It cost less than the Avery but it still wasn't cheap. To though me the advantages outweigh the negatives. Hope this helps.

get a beavertail its well worth the price and you can use rivnuts to fasten the front to your boat for those highspeed truckruns in the morning. I looked at a avery was way too time consuming to put it together and to use by yourself
 
I hunt out of a 16' mod-V. I bought the boat used last year and it came with the Avery Quickset. Not sure if it was installed correctly, but I was not completely satisfied with the design. I am planning to either rebuild it into a folding V style blind like a lot of other guys are using or I am going to go with a low profile removable hard sided blind. Studying plans and ideas from others that have been there and done that already.

In my searching of Craigslist, I found this one down here in South NJ. I am in no way affiliated with the seller but I saw the add and figured I would pass it along.

But my vote, is to build your own. It would be cheaper and more satisfying.
