New Marsh Cart

Well the wind and the warm weather had me stand down from going out last night, but I think my time away from the marsh was well worth it. On Monday I took our trash to the dump station and found some goodies laying next to one of the dumpsters. A kids bike and a clothes drying rack. I have been wanting to build a cart to help move decoys into the marsh because my walks are at least a mile. I used a couple sticks of 1/2" EMT and my dump findings to get this.

The dimensions of the top are 2'x3'. Here's the aftermath of the donors. I still have the back wheel, but figured I would try the one wheel idea to see how it does.

Thanks for looking,

RC,
Nice, if the one wheel doesn't work double wheels up with all thread. Some grip tape on handles and bungees= alot less work then backpacking gear in.

First trip out with the cart gives me results. 15 min after shooting time with clouds over the sun I see a mallard on its way in, gives me a pass shot and I take it. Drop it on the first shot and go to pick it up and it's a darn hen. Now I've got to be careful. 2 GWT swoop around the point and drop in the decoys, shoot one the other takes off. Another hen flies by and takes a look, I call her back in and she hangs around for a few min. A group of 5 mallards are straight out 40 yards and locked to drop. They peel at the last minute, well within range but its still to dark to pick out the drakes so I hold back (so hard to do). 2 more teal pop in and get 1 of them. All the action happened within 20 minutes, then no more birds.

I wish the drake had just a bit more color. I'm still debating on whether he's worthy for the wall. He's in the freezer, but hopefully I can manage a better looking one here later in the season.
