new motor

I would write a check for 1500 for it without to much hesitation. First i would copy the serial number and have a dealer run the number to see what year it was sold and what kind of history there is on record, hard to believe it's never ben run. could make a hell of a nice motor for you. I'm an omc guy but have a 1996 mariner 15 hp on a boat that is so nice i'm not going to jinx it by saying anything ;)

Apparently it was bought the last year 2 strokes were offered the guy bought it 2 replace a smaller motor on his dinot then ended up getn rid of the dingy and never had anything to run it onx

Hard to believe that a 2005 has never been run, but you never know. I would make sure to crank it, no telling when has gummed up/froze up in the last 7 years....
That said, if its truely never been run, its worth at least $1000, probably more. They arent making them anymore and they are in demand for small boats where weight matters (like duck hunting).

My group bought a 2005 Yamaha 25 last summer that had 7 hours on it. We paid 1800, and it is worth every penny. If the motor is as advertised I would jump on it, I don't think you can go wrong.

If you can get it for under $1500 and it is not stuck, sounds like a great deal.

Last summer after reading a post on this forum, I probably bought one of the last new 2 stroke Yamaha 9.9 (2009) in the nation. Paid more than $1500, but I really a wanted a new motor and a 2 stroke for reasons Carl mentioned.
