Hi Frank,

Wonder if that is the same boat I saw on Craigslist last fall in Maine? Looks identical and same length. I wanted it bad for a coffee table but a six hour ride on a Craigslist hunch is too risky for me.

Thanks for the great pictures of a wonderful boat.

Chris, It might have been. She came to me through a guy who moves people on the weekends. He said the woman he got it from/helped move was not lucid, except she remembered sailing it as a young girl. It was stored in her barn and she was moving to assisted living. That's all I know.

Don't get me wrong that boats should be repurposed and not put to their intended use. However, a nice piece of gunning history can serve equally in preservation on display publicly or privately. Just like a nice old wooden decoy from the market hunting era. Who is shooting over Joe Lincoln decoys today?
 
Chris, there is a little soft spot in the hull at the bow. Otherwise she is solid.
I looked up J Howard Perrine. Apparently he was the guy Sam Hunt learned from/ was employed by. I still would like to confirm.
I got this boat not for hunting, but for teaching my kids to sail.
I just don't want to let it get "trashed" if it has historic value.
I've got other boats to hunt from and could easily get another learning sailboat.
