New to site Introducing myself

New to the site but not to hunting or dogs. I own a Zaxby’s restaurant here in Alabama that my son runs for me so I have time to do the stuff I like to do. I have guided for waterfowl several years in Alberta and Manitoba and have some property in No Dak and Illinois that we hunt puddlers on, but want to expand to divers.
I have trained retrievers for 13 years and that is where I spend most of my time. Trained several HRCH and Master hunters, raise and sell 4-5 started hunting dogs each year also.
I had a nice chat last week with Tom Rowe and he is going to hook me up with some of his custom decoys that the grandsons and I will finish and flock over the summer. Looking forward to being able to shoot some Redheads and Cans in No Dak this fall.

Welcome to the site Mike.
I think you will like it here, its a lot different and better than most other sites

Mike

Welcome to the site from a fellow Alabamian. My son plays baseball with a kid whose dad owns several Zaxby's here in Alabama. Last name is Chandler.

Hey Mike , My son and I have been diver hunters for a number of years. We use an open water layout boat with a large tender. We travel from the upper Midwest to Kentucky each year. Let me know if you are interested in joining us sometime, we might be able to show you some pointers on layout gunning. Good hunting...

Eric, Bart and I know each other well. We got in the Zaxby's business about the same time. His are about 100 miles from me. Mine is in Jasper near Birmingham, his are in the northern part of the state.
He and his partner are good guys.

Joe, I would love to come hunt with you. I see you are from Carlyle. I own a 40 acre timber hole east of Carlyle. Not a lot of birds this year because the Kaskaskia bottoms are fairly dry.
I can bring a very good dog if that is allowed and I for sure won't tell you how or what to do.
I'm going to Tara Plantation on a deer hunt Dec. 7-10 but pretty free week or weekends after that.
Let me know if there is room for a tag along.

Mike,

Welcome aboard!
I'm down in Mobile, funny coincidence, my daughter has a classmate who's dad owns a couple of Zaxby's in Mobile!

I don't hunt as much as I used too: kids, work, etc.., but if you ever get a notion to hunt Mobile Bay or MS Sound, I can point you to some good spots for redheads, scaup and buffies. We occasionally see cans, GEs and very rarely, as scoter or two.

Mike great to see you found this place. It's quickly becoming my favorite site. Great people here and no " nonsense" like some other places have. It was a pleasure talking with you last week. Hope all is well.

Joe - Nice gesture. Looks like taking Mike out, you should eat good. Have you warned him about Clint's appetite???

Another one into the diver fold... Pat
