New Trailer

I pulled the trigger. I was able to find a cheap Yakima Rack and Roll out west and the seller was willing to ship her to MN. Put it together yesterday in the garage and here she is.

From the pics I saw prior to buying, the trailer looked like it isn't built to last. In person, and after having put it together, this is not the case. This trailer will haul 300lbs which is way more than I intend to ever put on it. Best part is that it will fold up and store flat on a garage wall which was key for me.

Here's a pic. I'll post more when I get some duck hunting or ice fishing stuff on it. Notice the lack of snow. February 13th and no snow in Minnesota. Has to be a record of some type.

I've been intrigued by those trailers. I'm getting a little too old to put my 90-lb. square stern canoe on top of the truck by myself. What do you plan on hauling with it? Keel up or keel down?

I am hauling a few things. For duck hunting, I plan to haul my 15', 60lb Hoefgen Duck Boat. Keel down so I can throw decoys and my mini mud motor into the cockpit. I too tired of putting my boat on top of my vehicles (getting older as well) and putting it into the old pick up truck bed while it worked, I was uncomfortable with so much hanging out the back of the bed - even with the Harbor Freight light set on the back of the boat.

This last season I bought a new vehicle and as I had no means to carry it on top, and I bought a SUV that didn't have a bed, I didn't hunt with my little boat. The season wasn't as much fun as I truly enjoy hunting out of the smaller boat on the smaller bodies of water.

This trailer will also allow me to keep my Hoefgen the trailer, unhook the trailer from the Jeep (jeez, I sound like Mr. Brezny), with my Benelli M1 Super 90 loaded with Kent Superfast sheels, and then wheel the trailer to where I will put it into the water.

Winter time it will carry my flip over ice shack and ice auger. While the current shack fits into the back of the Jeep, it barely does so. Since I plan to get a little bigger flip over sometime in the next year, I need a way to haul it as well.

Miscellaneous - brush and grass clippings to the compost heap in the summer and moving some stuff back and forth to my Daughter's college.

Hopefully it will work in all the ways I envision.

There are many many trailers like this available - I was amazed. The Yakima was the only one that was easily disassembled to store flat against a garage wall. If you want. I'll happily send you the sites where these types of trailer exist. Also, use the "Search all of Craigslist" site to search everywhere in the US for new and used items. There were a few available back when I was looking.
