As many of you know, I have owned a Hoefgen Duckboat for some time as have others on this site. It has served me well over the years and I have been extremely happy with the boat.
Some may know that the building of the Hoefgen brand boats slowed a few years back due to retirements or folks just moving on I believe (could be wrong on this one but I think this is the reason). Boats were still made but in smaller quantities and on an order basis only.
Imagine how surprised I was to get a letter in the mail this past week from Hoefgen Canoes. It was a personal letter from Paul Hoefgen letting me know he enjoyed reading my story (on duckboats.net) about the day I purchased the Hoefgen from him in Green Bay and getting pulled over by a cop who only wanted to know where I got the boat from. That post had to be from many years ago. Funny that he found that one of all the posts about his boats on duckboats.net.
In the note Paul let me know that Hoefgen is now back in the business of making boats. He currently has 4 fiberglass duck boats and 1 Kevlar duck boat in stock. I thought I would pass this information along as many here may have an interest in knowing Hoefgen is back to building boats.
For those interested, here is the website to the Hoefgen Duck Boat (and no, I get nothing out of this, just a very happy customer).
