NH sculler, Randy Dow, passes on...

Randy Dow, who sculled Great Bay (NH) 'til his 90th year, passed away. He preferred to hunt alone, though helped those willing to put the time in to learn. He was "old school", expressed his opinion freely, loyal to friends, and tolerant of most others. Flew everything the US made in WWII out of England (3 bomber missions, then all fighter aircraft); could tell you lots about water, weather, and tides without seeing the weather channel. Am guessing many on this forum have known someone like Randy, so no need to further explain the type. He was ready for the Happy Hunting Ground, at peace, the pain and frustration of the past year now over. His ashes have been spread around the waters he loved...he'll be missed 'round here.

Randy was a real gentleman and a treasure of sculling knowledge. I'll miss seeing the twinkle in his eyes as he described a scull in detail and then modestly admit to the very successful shooting that followed. I'm sure that he is among friends now in that big marsh somewhere over the horizon.

Tom thanks for passing the news on about Randy. He was without question one of the best scullers and willing to share his knowledge. He certainly peek my interest in sculling many years ago at Duckers Day. He forgot more than the rest of us will ever know about sculling. A class gentleman. I'm sorry to hear that he passed. God Speed. Hank
