Nice Tom Saturday morning.

My long time buddy Rick had a business meeting last week in Reno, NV. so, he came on up to my place on Friday. The next morning we got this decent Tom just before the rains set in and we spent the rest of the weekend hitting all the antique shops in two counties locally. Rick was happy with this 10" bearded Tom.

We are supposed to get some dry weather this coming week.

That is a beautiful bird, Dave! Great picture too. I have not been so fortunate yet this season. Been hoodoo-ed by MR. TOM 3 times now. People at the office keep calling me about some job I am supposed to be doing....work always gets in the way.

We did manage to scare some fish out of the pond....my daughter is an excellent hand with the open-faced reel. The man at the hardware store guarentees that his crickets "will catch fish or die trying!"

Great photo of your daughter with a nice fat crappie. That photo could be titled "Just the facts Mam" since she's showing everyone the FACT that she can catch nice fish! Using fat crickets is pretty much a standard M.O. when trying to entice a fat crappie to bite. Infact, a criket often leads to a 187 on carppie.

Pretty Work Rick!!! you too Dave.

I've turkey hunted a time or two, but am going on my first official turkey hunt on friday....a real guide, as opposed to a polack walking around the woods with a call from walmart and not a clue in the world!!

Details on Friday afternoon.

Dave,

IMO it's always a good idea to get a guide the first time as there is a lot you can learn from one if you pay attention and ask questions. Same goes for a first time elk hunt in Colorado or a fishing trip to the Big Horns.

Good luck on your Tom.
