I went to check out the campsite today. I also spoke with a few guys in the main office at the park. The park and camp sites are a mess with downed trees and power lines. As some of you guys know South Jersey had a bad thunder storm with 80+ mph winds a few days ago. The park office didn't have any power. I spoke with the guy in charge of the park and the camp sites. His name was clayton super nice guy and very helpful. I told him that we had reserved the site on the south river with access to the boat ramp. He said that as of now we will be ok to use the site. He also said that all camp sites up to the 15th have been canceled. Clayton said that there were 3 huge trees blocking the road to the camp sites and also a bunch of hanging limbs that were 40 to 50 feet up just hanging on by a thread. At any time those limbs over the roads and camp sites will/could fall. He couldn't stress safety enough. He went on to say that the roads and sites are not safe at this time. He also said that the park roads and camp sites are low on the counties priority list with main roads and limbs over power lines and pubic buildings being top on the list. The county only has 3 bucket trucks and these are what they need to use to clear the dangerous hanging limbs or as clayton called them widow makers. With all that said as of now we are still ON for our get together on Sat. July 21st.

Clayton told me that People who get there site canceled will take priority in being first for next year to get a camp site. so if it does get canceled this year we can plan for next year. That's a long way off but good to know.

Sorry for the not so good news but lets hope it works out for the best. I was told that They will know more in the next few days and to keep in touch with the reservation office. I will let you guys know if I hear anything. Clayton has my number aswell and he said he will call me if anything changes as soon as he knows.

Thanks for the update Chris! I was wondering how things were down there. I had to work in Vineland on Tuesday and Landis Ave (which is the main street through town) still had trees and wires across it. That being said a couple people told me that it was even worse south of there. Good to hear that you could make it to the park. Hopefully they get the trees clear for the event!!!

Reschedule it to a later date, let's be safe! More inportantly I can make it then. Hope everyone has a great time.
