NO MORE SCULLBOATS !!

Hi Gang ! Haven't posted for a while because I fell and broke my hip and then with all the tests they give you at the hospital they found a big lump of Cancer in my Colon. So had it taken out but it had spread to the lungs which will require chemo. So with the fact that I just turned 80 I decided that I would stop building Scull boats. I'm just finishing the last boat for a great group of guys from Tenn.
I started building The Hayden Sculler in the late 1970's and hve built about 50 of them also have assembled about 40 Delassmutt Scull bots.We are going to ship the Hayden molds to my son John in California where he will continue the tradition. Thanks to all the guys who purchased a boat and the best of success.
I also have about 400 hand carved hunting decoys that I need to sell, 50 solid cedar Bluebills 25 hollow Mallards, 60 Hollow Brant, 40 hollow Canvasback and quanities of other species. I'll list them in the Classified next week. I'd like to sell them to hunters not collectors
This is a great bunch of guys that are on this forum !! Bob Hayden

Bob,
first, the best of luck with your treatment. You are in our prayers tonight.

Second, What a run. That is one long and amazing boat building career. I bet those guys in Tenn. are feeling very blessed to be getting a boat from you.

Bob,
You have two people in New Mexico pulling for you in every imaginable way. Best of luck to you with those on-going treatments.

Holy smokes. You must have done that hip thingy after we'd talked last. You're in my prayers my friend.

For those reading...turns out that Bob & I went to the same high school (Grand Rapids Catholic Central-Michigan)...just a few years apart. ;) OK, lotsa years apart.

Hope John does well with the sculler molds. Holler if there's anything I can help out with.
Later partner, God bless.

Its all about Building that Bond.

Hi Bob, I just wanted to say thanks for building my first scull boat. I found her at a pawn shop a few years ago. After a bit of elbow grease she's sculling again. Many redheads, bluebills, and canvasbacks were taken out of her in the past seasons. I'm just glad I can thank you personally for such a great boat. My good friend owns her now but I still use it a lot through the season. I would love to buy some of those bluebills from you, I'll keep my eyes peeled for them. The best of luck to you Sir,
John Ven Huizen

Best of luck to you Bob. We'll keep you and your family in our prayers. I used to have a Delashmutt that you made for Steve Parsons, but have since passed it along. I miss a quiet afternoon of sculling.

Take Care,
Brian

Bob, I'm new to the forum, but best of luck to you. I'm just getting to appreciate what you have been building for years...the fine lines and tradition of scull boats and BBSB. Hope you have a speedy recovery. Troy

I met Bob a few weeks ago and was fortunate enough to get one of the last boats he built, the only Hayden boat in South Carolina. I left him in very good spirits and can assure you all he is doing well.

Thanks for the boat Bob and get well soon.

Russell

Bob,

oddly enough i was thinking just last wek that I'd never made it out to meet you in Indiana. I'll keep you in my thoughts & prayers, and make time to get over in the fall. Best on the treatments.

You are in our hearts and prayers Bob, wishing you a quick recovery.

You deserve to slow down a little after all of those years of accomplishment. I look forward to seeing your work.

Kick the crap out of that cancer nonsense and take care of yourself.

We're all pulling for you.
