Northern New York Hunting:

Hey, y'all:
I know it's early, but never TOO early to plan..

I'm going to be waterfowl hunting the great north country of New York for a couple of waterfowl hunts this year.
I have my eyes on a few places in the Northern Zone and the Lake Champlain Zone.

The places I'm interested in hunting are:

On Champlain: Ausable Marsh State WMA, the mouth of the Boquet River, Bulwagga Bay, Wickham WMA, Mill Bay, and the backwater of South Bay.

On Lake George: Dunham Bay Marsh

If anyone has experience hunting up there, I will appreciate any info you can share about your experience.
*My main concern is the avoidance of crowds*. This is not a spot-burning thread. I'm not asking for honey holes. I'm not asking for the places that are popular with the birds. I simply don't want to drive 4-5 hours, just to be stationed in the middle of a shooting gallery. I can do the shooting gallery thing at the gun club -and I won't have to sleep in a wooden boat.

I'll be posting the results of the trips.
Thanks in advance!

Very Sincerely,
Martin J. Villasuso
Orange County, NY

P.S: If anyone would like to try waterfowl hunting the Hudson Valley, feel free to PM me and we could meet up and visit some of my favorite locations. My avatar is my favorite spot in the world!

Martin,

We hunt the Thousand Islands Region mostly between the East shore of Lake Ontario and the St Lawrence. If you are interested in something around here we could take care of you. You will be hard pressed to find better gunning. PM if you want more info. -Ira

I have hunted Thousand Islands, and you can't go wrong in that area. Plenty of ducks and plenty of geese. Some of the nicest, best tasting mallards you will ever have.
