Thomas alongside 2nd place winner Canyon Hohn.
About two months ago Thomas got some coaching from Alabama State Champ Mike Smith. He helped Thomas put together a routine and it showed. Thanks to Mike for all his Help.

Hey Eric,
that is cool. How far did you have to travel to get to the event? Do you go to another now?
Looks like a pair of fine young men. Bet they cant wait to try their stuff on the real judges soon.

Any info on the winning call. Looks like a nice piece of wood on that lanyard.

Eric,

That is a nice accomplishment. Please pass on my congrats to Thomas. How old is he now? He certainly is quite a bit taller than when I was there, course that has been some time ago.

Speaking of calls, have you been spending any time in your wood shop?

Thanks guys.

David, he calls better than I do. Problem is we get so few mallards it's hard to really develop the skills to work them in. Hopefully he'll get more expereice from our trips to Arkansas.

Bob, we had to travel a good 5 miles. The contest for the past three years has been part of the Super Retriever Series they hold in Huntsville. Thomas can go to Stuttgart and blow in the World Championship. I atually think the Jr. Division doens't require a state or regional win like the adult division does to qualify. I think any kid under 13 can blow. Not sure if we are going to try it or not. It is the Friday after Thanksgiving which is our opener. Have to think about it. Kind of depends on what Thomas wants to do.

Dave, Thomas is 11. If I could change one thing about him it would be his birthday. He has the worst baseball birthday a kid can have, April. If he were one month younger he would be one of the oldest on his team instead of always being the youngest and one of the shortest. It is amazing how much advantage the older kids in each age group have. A lot of growing and maturing happens in a year so imagine always being the youngest. Sucks. No time to turn calls this year. Post duck season is looking good though. Those are the plans. Hit it hard after duck season.

Eric

What a great accomplishment!! You'll never forget this!!

In my opinion, I would definitely go to Stuttgart. There will be many opening days for ducks, but not many chances to compete in the world's.

Best,
Steve

Well, Thomas, some day I hope to buy a CD that you will be selling on the "Art of Duck Calling". Congratulations on winning first place and that very nice plaque. Keep up with the practicing.
Al

Eric,
Congrats to Thomas, looks like you have a duck hunting companion for many years to come. Inquiring minds want to know if the championship was won with one of your own calls and if so, when will the "Thomas Patterson Signature" model be available.
Ron

Way to go, Thomas. When I read the title, I didn't know if I'd be looking at pics from duck hunting or a fall baseball tourney.

That is way cool. You guys keep up the good work and good luck on your duck opener.

Tight Lines ... Fred

Hi Thomas: I want to congratulate you for your calling championship. Keep up the good work and practice.
Practice makes perfection. Eric, don't miss out on the worlds. Good Luck!

Way to go Thomas...

Do you guide hunts...Looking for a great caller here in Louisiana to put birds in decoys...

Regards,

Kristan
