Not your daddy's wood boat, latest project...

By all means use the lights Brad has on his website.... I installed 4 in my sneakbox, and they work great and were priced right too...

Thanks for posting Dave!

Very nice boat Brad... I am currently looking for some LED lights to place under the lip of my duckboats deck so they shine down at the floor and not up into your eyes.
Do you have any reccomendations on which lights to use, where to purchase them?

As for the LEDs, yes I carry them. I stock them in white, red and green. They are 3" long. 1/4" high, 3/8" wide, waterproof to 15' and made in the USA. They have an automotive grade adhesive tape on the back and once stuck, you're not moving them. Each 3" strip has 3 nexLEDs, to clarify, each nexLED has 3 diodes vs. 1 diode in a standard LED. So while it might look like less LEDs than the common 6 LED strip lights sold by seasense et. al, there are actually more diodes (9 vs 6) in one of the lights I carry. They draw in the milliamps and have a 150 degree broadcast angle. Anyways, they are $10 each plus $3.85 shipping (regardless of quantity). I'm a little low in stock on the white right now, as I had a guy place a big order the other day. However, my shipment should be in around the end of this week or start of next. You can purchase them via my website, http://www.tollerboatworks.com

To everyone else, again I appreciate greatly the kind words that have been posted.

Bad arse just got "badder"....

Got the motor painted this evening. Still a few things to do such as wiring in the stern light and an onboard battery charger. After that, she's pretty much ready for a couple of quarts of oil and some gas...and of course some throttle time

Thanks Kristan! It takes a few design cues from the Gator DH but otherwise its just the same building style. I'm jealous too, I keep telling the fella that bought it that he's welcome to store it in our garage...haha On a related note, I just sent a regular DH down to LA.

You have benchmarked well!..Your work is an absolute work of art...It shows that you put a lot of effort in your boats...I checked your website out...Wonderful boats...Wish I had the extra cash sitting around right now...I would purchase the exact boat...A boat like this would be the best thing since sliced bread here in Louisiana...I am sure the gentleman whom bought your boat will be the envy of the swamps...If you are ever in this area...Give me a call 270-556-1894...I have a handfull of local spots scouted...Since I work the second shift I have a lot of free time in the morning during the week to smack some birds with minimal competition...Hand carved birds and a Toller Black Death would be "All She Wrote" for our feathered companions in the Green Timber....Good luck hunting this season!

Kristan

Thanks again Kristan and I may take you up on it if I can swing a little trip to LA. The gentleman from LA that purchased the DH from me also invited me down so I may try and swing something around Christmas. Of course I have a 3 year old and a wife that may say otherwise...haha!

What a fantastic looking setup. Have you amortized the cost per duck yet? Have a great season.
Al

Thanks Al and definitely not a question I want to ask my customer, but then again he's already paid for everything :D! Regardless, there are days I let that thought go through my head while I'm out hunting and I try to squash it as quickly as it comes in.

Thanks again,
Brad

Ohhhh mmyyyyy!! Talk about a match made in heaven!!

Finally finished up the last of the small details, so time for wood and metal to meet water! Pleasantly surprised at how quite the BD5500 is at idle. After letting her idle for a bit in the yard we backed her in. Started with the motor centered on the transom, minimal torque. Shifted it to the left about 1" and surprisingly had significantly more torque so back to the middle we went. Bolted it down and it was off to the races. Varied the throttle over the course of the next little bit. Trimmed down and it will easily raise the bow in case of snotty weather. Jumps up on plane so nice and smooth it isn't even funny.

Ended up with a top speed of 31 and taching around 4300. Spoke with Sandman afterwards and he said should hit more power at around 4 hours and Blair should be looking at mid 30s for a top end.

After a bit of playing around on open water, we headed for a nearby cove and with the water level down she was just right for what we wanted to do. Did get to experience slide first hand when cutting her hard to turn, running in the 20s and less than a 1' of water...thought we were going to wind up in the green grass!! haha! I'm not used to that with the 21 hyper on the original DH. Regardless she hung in an inch or two of water but with a little wiggling and digging we were on our way again.

Here's a couple of pictures and as soon as I can figure out how to edit the video down to some good clips, I'll post it up as well.

All in all, I think Wylie is a happy man. I hated to see him tow it out the driveway and wish I could have spent a couple of more hours on the water! I know for a fact, I'm in need of selling the Hellcat because I'm going to build the same setup for myself.

Brad - A W E S O M E ............. fit and finish really is something ........... not to mention the paint job.......... Wondering if you plan to grass it or just use the paint job for camo ? How about the rocket on the stern - how does that hide ?
I know most of the DBDN hunters are jealous........... send this over to the navy - so the seals can be jealous too !

Thanks a ton Sarge! It will be grassed, the new owner is working on the blind as I type. He's going with similar flapper boards that I use on the DHs I build. As for the motor, there is a cover with stubble straps so it should hide fine.

Thanks again,
Brad
