OK, so I'm going to be in Toms River quite a bit this summer……

My job's taking me up that way end of June through 2nd weekend in July, then again first couple of weeks in Sept. What's there to do nearby, waterfowling related or otherwise & who's from near there? I should have some time off around July 4 to explore, etc. Sept's less well defined to make plans at this point. Let me know. We've got to get together for at least a beer or two.

Well if you are here for the first few weeks in sept. You have to hit the Tuckerton show they have every year at the Tuckerton seaport. Its a great show its full of sneakboxes all the builders are there with there boats, decoys you name it its there. Its the best show out there IMHO. Its a 2 day event and if you can make it you will be back every year after. Look it up on line. Not sure if a date is set but its in sept always.

Hey Bill-there is some stuff to do around there in the summer and pretty good hunting in the winter. Fishing in the ocean and bay is good in July for flounder, bluefish, sea bass and offshore stuff. There are some boat rental places around the bay near where you'll be if you want to do that. You can also take a ride down to Cape May at some point for the day and also do some exploring along Delaware Bay. There are a lot of cool roads down there that will take you to little fishing villages along the bay that are fun to check out. Philly is only about an hour and going to Independance Hall and the Liberty Bell and that kind of stuff is also kind of cool if you never did it. Also, you re right near the nicest beach in NJ which is Island Beach State Park. Good surf fishing, swimming, and hanging out there, it is 6-8 miles of undeveloped barrier island beach. Get in touch with me just before you go, I keep a boat kind of near there in Barnegat Light and if I get a chance to get away from work I will try to take you out fishing.
