One last moose hunt?

I can't decide if I should try one more time for moose in the permit zone or not. I've wasted so much good duck hunting time this fall chasing meat. I had hung up my rifle as of last weekend, but then I got a call from a guy who knows the area well and he told me about a honey hole I might like to try. Its a little late for the rut but there might be bulls in the area still horny for a fight. We have quite a bit of fresh snow on the ground that would make hitting a fresh track easy. It would be a canoe hunt on a river I've never been on in early winter conditions, in an area infested with grizzly bears because it is just outside Kluane park. I'm haunted by the thought of a giant park raised moose just standing there waiting for me. He said I could get in and out in a day no problem, even if I shot a moose.

What if there is a big fuzzy grizzly standing there? Anyone know what an 8 foot bear would be worth to sell?

Maybe I'll give it one last shot on Sat, but then I am shooting nothing but ducks! Why does all the hunting have to be all at once?

What? Does he know what a moose is? (or, more importantly, how big it is?). Now, if my buddy was with you, you could drive up to it (yes, he's that lucky - killed a really nice one in ID this year that he drove up to).

I say whack a moose.

Would be nice to have all that sausage for the next year. What is the Canoe you have and how far ya got to go,alone or with a butcher along?Hunter's minds need to know:^)

I could see it in one day..with a 20' freighter canoe...hind quarters, shoulders, backstraps, heart ,liver and head..you paddle much faster with an 800 lb grizzly chasing the meat wagon...

I dreamed about one like this last night, so that must be an omen. Me and Jud will head out early Sat and give it a one day desperation try. BUT when I was checking the regs I discovered that if I'm not successful during the reg season I can apply for an extended season which goes until March 31 or when 5 bulls are killed. I might be able to take advantage of that.

Paul, the first moose I ever shot I was able to back up to with a pick up. Never has it happened again, but that's what argo's, 6x6's, and quads with trailers are for right?

Joe, we'll have to go light, a 16' Old Town and two guys. Jud and I have packed out a few things together over the years and we'd be able to pack it to the canoe in about 6 loads.

Dave, I gotta retire before I'm too old to enjoy the time!

Boz, I know the moose will fit, we might have to walk though. Apparently the spot is only 5 miles upstream from town. How bad could it be?

Harker, you got that right! That place is bear central in the fall. I guess a grizzly pushed his way into an elder's house last week, but granny was packin' heat and he's a rug now. They get some real whoppers coming out of the park. Some close to 1000 lbs.

I'll let you guys know how it goes on Sun.
