Open Water Paisley

Well you have Mike pegged then...........the only other odor is wet Chessie.

BTW - have you run into any Tolmans for sale. I'd be interested in a widebody or jumbo hull. Just the hull with nothing else on it would be fine. Thinking about a tender/work boat for layout gunning. If there isn't anything available I'd build it of course but it never hurts to check out what's out there.

I'm completely out of the Tolman business. I decided I couldn't make one do what I wanted (too light, not enough deadrise), I'm now collecting early 1970's vintage SeaCrafts with the plan to refurb one once I get some stuff around the house done.

Back in my day, and in Mike's day, that would have been considered "mod"...

Nice work Mike! And Godspeed on the broadwater...

Great paint job for Michigan waters. I'd think that would work with any kind of weather and lighting (cloudy to sunny).

What kind of hull make and size is that boat?

The original skin was an 18'. 90" wide Mirrocraft. I bought the aluminum skin as scrap and built the boat. I did sub out some of the aluminum work though.

Thanks for the positive comments on the paint. The idea for it had been something I wanted to try.

Pete, give me a ring, I have a Crestliner Nordik that is 19' with a 115 Hp Johnson on it, I think it will work quite well for what you are intending. I have used it just like you mention for 3 Layouts. I have some pics if you want. you have my email and phone number if you want.

Used Tolmans are pretty rare. I just saw a pro built one go for 15K from Colorado fyi.
