Opening day of NC main duck season

Two thumbs way Up!

A wonderful time outdoors, and mighty fine eatin'.

Using a bird strap to cool em down ASAP is the same thing that I use.

Best regards
Vince

Ben,
I also chose not to go duck hunting for the NC November opener. Didn't want to fight the crowd.

I went squirrel hunting earlier in the week. A wonderful time to be in the woods and plunk a few for the table.

Your son is lucky to have you as a father.

Hi Ben,

That was probably a wise decision since the temp got to 77 deg., at least that's what my truck said. I hunted J. Morgan Futch impoundment blind #3, and we saw only a few wood ducks at sunup. I understand the Bodie Island NPS hunting area killed 2 greenwing teal out of the 20 blinds that were hunted.

should have gone fishing....

Hope you are well. Enjoy your squirrel stew!

Eric,
Garland had a great time and has been enjoying playing with the squirrel tails with his little brother Jonah that I deboned and cut off.

Vince,
I made that strap just for small game and could fit on my belt if I wanted. A lot better carrying squirrels with it and cleaner than just putting them in a game sack.

Larry,
It is always crowded on opening day so was nice to be in the woods with only 1 person and not have to worry about anyone else. Plus with Thanksgiving coming up it will be nice to add some squirrel to the variety of food to eat.

Joe,
It is warm to put on my waders and dodge snakes to shoot some wood ducks. I do enjoy it nonetheless but can't hunt everything at once.
I haven't heard any reports from locals on what was taken on opening day but I did see some boys shooting at Ruddy ducks on the river in the afternoon.

Hope all of y'all do well this season no matter what the target is.
