Does anyone own any of the Orvis Cork Decoys? They sure look nice but are very expensive at $99. each. Also can anyone give me a link to affordable corkers other than LL Bean and Herters? Thaqnks.................Kevin

for $100/bird I would buy from one of the many great carvers on this site rather than orvis. i don't own any, but you can buy gunning grade black ducks from the sneakbox decoy company for $65/bird.

That price is around the going rate for custom cork decoys. My corkers are around $75. Tim McEntire, who posts on this site, has the best prices on cork decoys I know of. I own a pair, and he makes a very nice decoy. You can PM him or contact him at: timmcentire@alltel.net

Kevin,
You could try Dead Duck Decoys. I have several and they work find....nice decoys. Although, I'll have to say I like my Bean decoys more.

Hey guys, take it easy on me. I recently bought from Pat Gregory for my sons. I love them and will buy more in the future. But I have to say that I do like cork decoys. After all they are not plastic. My intention with corks is to get a few more blackies and mallards to hold me over until I can make my own.

Chuck, when I say make my own I do mean wood. I purchased some cedar last winter. I also met up with Jode Hillman for some pointers. What a carver he is!!! I just need to get my a@!# in gear. I still need a bandsaw and more knives. After all I'm a metal worker.

You can bet that when I carve my first it will be posted..............Kevin

If you really want to drag this project out, you could make your own knives. And exactly how many knives do you need? I use 2, and most of the guy's I whittle with use just one. Oh yeah...don't let David turn you into a decoy snob, there's nothing wrong with cork!

Jim Higgins makes some excellent cork decoys. I have two of his birds, a black and a widgeon. The widgeon is awesome. You'd be hard pressed to find a better, more affordable cork bird than Jim's. They are hardy too.

Kevin,

Do you like Hillards at all? Being from Jersey, I know that you know about his stuff I purchased some from Monica who was/is selling a bunch a stuff on this site. I bought 3 blacks, 1 widgeon, 2 pintails and 3 blue wing teal for $150.

Maybe PK will do a bulk price rather than an individual price.

Cheers,
Mike

Thanks for the info. guys. Sneakbox decoys has some nice dekes. Mike, do you know that I did'nt consider Hilliard thinking that his prices were too high. How can he be contacted?................Kevin

I don't know what PK gets per decoy, but everything is cheaper in bulk,

Have you checked to see what the Runamuck boys have?
If I wanted cork I wouldn't stop anywhere else.

Check the Website, you may have to google Runamuck Decoys.

There are so many choices of quality hand made and painted decoys; I wouldn't even consider the Orvis decoys if your willing to spend $100 per decoy.
