outboard experts out there?

I got a new outboard for my boat a couple of weeks ago. It's an '86 Evinrude 40 ECDE with manual tilt. I'm wanting to put a power tilt unit on it. How can I find a part # so I can start shopping? Does anybody have any experience with aftermarket T/T units? Thanks.

Bill, go to BRP's website (Bombardier recreational products) you have to look around a little but they have a page with almost all years of J/E parts diagrams with factory numbers..you can click on them to find out price..I think factory tilt trim is built right into the motor mounting area and is probably a lot more spensive than an aftermarket set up..some of the aftermarket ones will tilt AND lift the motor..how many thousands ya wanna spend? I'd say look on ebay but you would be getting a pig in the poke as t&t sometimes has a lot of issues.

Bill, What Lee said- I added T & T to my 75 and it was EXPENSIVE. I was able to buy the parts at a really good price and it was worth it. Some of the aftermarket units are soooo slow. Used is probably a bad gamble. One angle is to buy a blown motor with T&T and salvage it. You are not the only one that wants to do that though. Look at BRP for a part number of smooze a parts guy to help you out.
