outdoor boat storage

any concerns or special precautions folks take when storing glass over wood boat outdoor all year long? would be mid-atlantic state area (NJ). Boat would only be used duck season, then sit hi/dry rest of year, motor can come inside garage. would cover cockpit to keep water out of inside.
thanks in advance

Allow the hull some way to breathe, ie. don't put the hatch cover on all the way. This will cause the boat to cook from the inside out during the summer.

I turn my boats upside down. This lets them breathe while making sure water stays out. I will warn you, one year I had a hive of paper hornets think it was a nice sheltered area for their nest. I never thought I could run quite that fast...

I left mine out on the dock most of the summer. I have both a wood and canvass cockpit cover. Use the canvass when its warm. Overall the sun and elements wear on the boat. The canvass boat cover sounds like a good idea.

My sneakbox is in the garage now, I cant stand the idea of letting the water on the floor freeze up.

Matt, I agree with the previous posts, dont cover the cockpit with a solid cover so it can breathe and also get a cover over the exterior of the boat. If your trailer is parked on dirt you can also block up the axle on the trailer to save your tires during the off season. Make sure the plug is out if equiped with one in case water does get into the boat. Im only a short distance from you in Gloucester City, give me a call if you have any questions. 609-634-1250.

Thanks all, and I will take you up on the offer to speak Bob. My biggest concern is the wear and tear the boat will take in the elements sitting outside in the summer heat, delaminating etc.....

Matt:
I shrink wrap all of my boats. It's like putting them in a tupperware container. The duck boat, I cover to the waterline, the pleasure boat I cover down to the trailer. It's not too terribly expensive. Maybe $15 for the season. Just cut a couple vents high up and you shouldn't have any condensation.
