Over 100 years...

Just finished a pair of hollow carved black ducks, fully stamped. The black hatpin eyes in these decoys are from Herters from the 1940-50's. These blacks are migrating to Connecticut.

The last picture is a picture of one of my blacks with one of my teacher, Art Behemetuik's black duck decoys and Art's teacher, my great grandpa, George Barto's black duck decoys. Three carving generations of black duck decoys spanning over 100 years.

By the way, my teacher, Art Behemetuik is in his 90's and still making decoys. Art is a spry rascal. When he goes in to his doctor for his annual physical exam, to impress the doctor, Art drops down on the floor and does 10 push ups. He is a rascal. I am thankful my great grandpa showed Art how to carve and Art graciously shared it with me.

Pass on your legacy to someone else. A legacy is only a legacy if it's shared...

Yah Bob, thanks for the admonition. I need it. I got a little behind this year and am doing decoys during duck season, something I don't normally do. Bit off a little more than I can chew both in decoys and duck hunting this year. I still have a goose, 6 canvasbacks, 2 redheads, 2 widgeon and a pair of mallards to make. Just need to press on...

Diver time... Chasing those "Rockets of the North"! Be safe out there...
