I have an older sears and roebuck single shot 16 gauge shotgun that i would like to paint with parkers, it has a walnut stock and forend, what prep should i do to the barrel and the wood before painting?

not too take away from the article on tripod but i had good luck with plain old krylon too paint my first duck gun (a mossberg 500) just scuff and spray worked real well and alot less time but it was not as detailed as the technique in the article.I also know that most gun shops can send a gun out too be paint dipped we just kryloned ours too use in salt water, butt painted factory painted guns are getteing real reasonable so my new gun was factory advantage wetlands. hope that .02 helps

Not that it has any collector value now, but one day it might and there are a lot better waterfowl guages than 16. So why do you want to Paint the gun ? My younger brother and I both started with single barrelled guns. Mine was a Savage 94 in 12 Ga. and his was a 94 in 16 Ga. Both guns were used a lot for "rough shooting". I still have my old Savage but his gun got away from him and I know he wishes to have it back. If you just have to cover the gun, why not use some camo tape ?

Act in haste, repent at leisure.

Best,
Harry
