Palm fronds?

Hi, I've been amazed at the talent in Palm frond decoys.

My friend in FL has a access to Palm fronds.

Is there a certain breed of palm, or size, the guys using Palm fronds seek?

I'm from MN, so I have no clue about palms. To me it's a weaving leaf.

None of the Florida palms are big, or dense, enough to give you the blank size you need. You could probably find some big enough to do Teal with but none that I've seen are big enough to have the shape after you finish them that makes frind decoys so unique.

It's a Date Palm that makes the best ones and that one isn't grown in Florida.
