payback (or up)

just thought this is funny
as i have said before- i was a serious duck hunter for many years but switched to upland game

and after 20 + years have decided to get back into waterfowl again

back when i stopped duck hunting - in a comedy of miscommunication, my then teenage son sold my hunting canoe

this evening he sent a picture of his new gun - it was leaning against a canoe which i assumed belonged to his hunting buddy

i commented on the shotgun and he replied "what about the canoe" I said I figured it was his friends

no he says - its yours- same size and model as my old one , not a fancy boat but it was great for banging around small marshes -

he came up with it as part of one of his many trades

so- after all these years - i will have to stop picking on him for selling my canoe

lol

Full Circle is correct. It was meant to be.

If you have been out of it for a while you are in for some surprises...

i expect so-

but- I will still be shooting old doubles over a few decoys - i'll have to see how much the ducks have evolved while I did not

The ducks have not evolved, they are as great as ever... Many of the "hunters" have devolved = DEVO. Tactical, not skill rules now. Get yer robo and quake & shake decoys, and yer dumb phone app to tell you all about the birds and hunt. As one ad sez, it's a Religion now. Gemme a ****'** break!

Hunt as you always have, away form the crowd and the rewards are still the same. Man cannot improve upon Nature.

Could be we will cross paths someday. I'm the geezer with the handmade decoys, and 1935 16ga model 12 (unless goose huntin').

Once a Duck Hunter always a Duck Hunter. I wish you well, and welcome back.

Rick, in an effort to keep this parallel worlds thing going...I own a 45 year old Grumman 15' whitewater. I just replaced the cracked (1) and broken (1) thwarts two years ago and had some TIG welding done on the end caps before it received its fifth new coat of paint. I have been forced to sleep in it on two occasions, and under it once. Congratulations on your boat returning home!

just a follow up
