Perfect decoy size?

Looking to simplify my decoy patterns. Divers all the same except for the heads. Majority of puddlers all of the same except for the heads. Thinking about 14"x8"x5" for divers and 16"x7"x5" for puddlers.
What is the perfect size for all of you?

Man, that is a loaded question!!

I prefer oversize stool-in my head, they show up better--Like pancake divers, since you can stack more of them in a boat, like balsa for my marsh rig only because the lightness makes it possible to load more into a sled for transport.

I am going to be a real smart ass and say that if the ducks are in very close, you can get by with some 1/2 sizers (Like teal.)

If the bastards are out a mile, better haul out the big ones (at least gallon jug size and let your dog run around and make some waves.)

I've always liked large numbers in my spread so have always stuck with lifesize and lot's of them. But more and more, I see one or two live birds pulling birds away from the rig (open water). I'm seriously considering trying a layout hunt with one or two WAY oversized dekes and see what happens.

Whatever gives you confidence is what you neeed to hunt over. No single rig will be ideal in all conditions.

16" for a puddle duck is huge. Most of my patterns are around 12-13" for puddlers. I prefer life size. Ducks land with real ducks all the time, so my theory is that they can see my decoys just the same as the live birds.
