I need to install a pet door at our house.
I have 2 large labs.

Any experiences/recommendations to share before I buy?
Thanks
Tom

With two or more dogs,I recommend a single flexible plastic flap. The ridged flap is OK with one dog,but with two dogs it will get broken in short order. My two Britts hit the door full bore with a nose to tail situation. The door never has a chance to hit the back of the second dog.

Tom, We also have a couple labs and without the dog door we would be nuts!!! I don't remember the brand but the one we have had the luck with has two flexible flaps. They will tear it out of the mount every now and then but it is easy to replace. Just loosen the screws and slip it in. We have had those for almost 20 years now and they seem to stand up. A couple magnets came out of one but that is the only failure I can remember. Good Luck

Tom,

If you have a sliding door, consider a Johnson pet door which is a full hight glass insert with dog door below. the top panel is spring-loade, so it pops in and out in seconds. Mines been great. i didn't even have to drill any holes in my door, if memory serves.
